To answer support's questions.

i. In my case its a 1 out of perhaps 6 tries it will play a MOV file every bit it should. iii out of six times it will only play sound and show no video. 2 out of half dozen times it gives an error.

two. Error Code: 0xc00d36b4

3. Plays MP4, MP3.

MOV files play on Quicktime.

Quicktime is no longer supported by Windows considering it does not work with windows 10.   (On purpose?  who knows.)

Since neither company (Apple and Microsoft) has done anything about it, you will need to purchase the CODEC from a 3rd party.

Bad news I know.

Nope, the vlc histrion from the windows shop doesn't support or recognize the .mov format.

I didn't suggest the modern app version, merely the desktop version. The desktop version does play .mov files.

It's funny, I am able to view an mov file just fine on my mac, but when I opened information technology on my PC running Windows 10, I only become audio, but no video.

I have only tried the desktop version, and information technology does non play .mov files either.

A mac will play mov files since information technology's an apple video format

Even if QuickTime installed it'due south got vulnerabilities in Windows, and is no longer supported. So information technology wont get updated again
